Indiscriminate chemical killers
A natural soil environment is loaded with bacteria, fungi, nematodes, earthworms and other soil organisms .Some chemicals used on lawns kill weeds and pests, but also all of the above!
Looks are not everything
Synthetic fertilisers supply abnormally high and large levels of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium to the grass which makes the grass appear green but often leaving it sick on the inside making it more vulnerable to attack from disease.
Do not forget the fish
Up to 80% of synthetic fertilisers are washed off and leached through the soil when it rains .This eventually ends up in ponds, streams and rivers helping to further damage the environment we live in.
The not so 'green' lawn
Synthetic fertilisers are created by combining nitrogen and hydrogen at temperatures of up to 1200°f. Research has proven that it takes 33,000 cubic feet of natural gas to create 1 ton of nitrogen. This has a significant impact on carbon emissions and climate change just to make your lawn green!
